This 14-room Victorian-Style
house was Truman's home from his marriage to Bess
Wallace in 1919 until his death in 1972. Bess
lived there until her death in 1984. It was at
the home, known as the "Summer White House,"
that Secretary of State Dean Acheson informed
Truman of the invasion of South Korea in June
1950. Tours are given from 9am to 4:45 pm daily
from Memorial Dean through Labor Day. The home
is closed on Mondays during the rest of the year
and on major holidays. Admission is $2 for adults,
free for youth 16 and younger and adults 62 and
older. Tickets are first come, first served at
the Truman Home Ticket and Information Center,
Truman Road and Main Street. The center is open

This is the second oldest
presidential library in the National Archives
and Record Administration. Opened in 1957, the
museum offers numerous exhibits covering the life
span of the nation's 33rd president. Truman and
his wife, Bess, are buried in the library courtyard,
which the public can visit. The library is open
9 am to 5 pm daily and 9 am to 9 pm Thursdays
except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's
Day. Admission is $3 for adults and $2.75 for
seniors (62 and older). Children 15 and under
